Sony’s 2016 flagship mobiles Xperia X and Xperia X Compact are started to receive new software update. This firmware will upgrade the OS version of both handsets to Android 8.0 Oreo. Updating the two years old smartphones to android oreo is a good thing and also sounds great. The report suggests Sony had already initiated the oreo roll out and started to hit more users.
The build number for both Xperia X and X Compact are same 34.4.A.0.364. The user who holds the Xperia X Dual (F5122) handset has shared the screenshot and confirms the download size as 1202.4 MB (1.2 GB). The xperia x compact model may have same download size like Xperia X. It will also update the android security patch of both devices to January 1 2018. This is an official software update, so it will be available for download via OTA.
Because of phase roll out, the OTA update will take some time or even days to reach your region. Once the firmware is available for your device, you will be notified with the prompt. Still you didn’t receive the update notification then tap the Settings menu and choose About phone > Software update.
