Everyone is awaiting for Android Oreo update, but the Moto G4 Play users are just now receiving the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. This budget device was first launched in 2016 and recently they’ve also done the nougat soak test on this handset. The company had scheduled to roll out this update within 2017, but for some reasons they’ve failed to do it.
Finally the company has started to push the Nougat update for G4 Play owners. The firmware update is now available for ‘retbr’ channel i.e. Brazil units. It has been confirmed by the Reddit user who shared the updated device screenshot on this forum. Some of the highlighted features in nougat os are multi window, notification controls, customizable quick settings icons, doze mode and more.
It also updates the security patch level of this device to November 1 2017. Probably Motorola will push the software updates through OTA. The users can download this major OTA update using WiFi or Mobile data. Motorola has already affirmed the Nougat will be last update for Moto G4 Play which means you can’t taste the Android Oreo version.
